Vehicle Crew Cooling Systems

Defence

The Bioquell Defence 5 kW and 9 kW crew cooling systems incorporate COTS parts to produce an extremely efficient, affordable and reliable low life cycle cost crew cooling system.

To maximise operational capability of any vehicle and its crew it is essential to provide an efficient system for crew cooling. The system uses a conventional vapour cycle process using R134a refrigerant conforming to the Montreal Protocol.

The complete system includes an evaporator unit, compressor, condenser, control box, and interconnecting refrigerant hoses and wiring harnesses. Re-circulated air enters the evaporator unit through the pre-filter from the crew compartment. The cooled air is discharged through an aperture in the top of the unit and distributed to individual crew stations through ducting to provide spot cooling. The compressor, for maximum efficiency, is directly driven from the main engine and the condenser, configured to the required dimensions, will form part of the main engine cooling pack.

Key Features

  • High airflow rate from the 5kW and 9kW systems
  • Total recirculating system for maximum cooling efficiency
  • Easy access to components for routine servicing and maintenance
  • Thermal expansion valve, receiver drier, charge ports and sight glass are all integrated into the evaporator unit
  • High / Low pressure switch for compressor protection
  • Built in condensate drainage
  • System provides life support for a crew of up to 12 personnel
  • Various configurations of condenser designed to suit most applications
